Diatomix is a highly concentrated bacteria booster for ponds, containing specially formulated mix of Silica and 10 vital nutrients for Diatoms to grow and replicate.

Diatoms are microscopic living organisms that live in water and need regular nourishment to survive. They are at the beginning of the food chain and provide food for larger organisms that also exist within the ecosystem.

In healthy, well established ponds there may be enough nutrient for Diatoms to thrive however sometimes they need a head start and some help.

How it works

Diatoms take up the nitrogen and phosphorus that cause the problems in your pond, starving out the problem algae and weeds, restoring a healthy water balance. Diatomix provides the necessary minerals and vitamins to supercharge good bacterial growth in a pond, combating sludge and sediment, germs and poor water health.

Dosage:

Diatomix recommends for small garden ponds up to 10sq metres, that you apply 5ml (roughly one teaspoon) to your pond three times per week.

This works out to be roughly 5ml per 3000L, 3 times a week.

We recommend smaller, more frequent doses to ensure the bacteria have a steady constant supply of essential nutrients. At this dosage, it should last about a year.

To ensure better coverage in your pond it is best to mix the recommended dose of Diatomix in a container or bucket with existing pond water then mix it into your pond at different points, avoid getting it on top of weeds as it needs to be in the pond water. Give the bottle a really good shake prior to use.
